Fleet upgrade galvanizes steel deliveries

Wedge Group Galvanizing is rolling out a new-look livery for its fleet of 100-plus trucks, collecting and delivering steel from its 14 UK plants.

The new livery is being applied as part of the Willenhall-based operator’s fleet upgrade, which is switching to DAF vehicles.

The first 12 new vehicles joined the logistics operation this month; others will be introduced on a rolling replacement basis.

Supplied by DAF dealer Ford & Slater, the new arrivals are a mix of Euro VI DAF CF40FTG tractors and LF230FA rigids, with bodies by Bevan Group.

Paul Thompson, fleet transport manager for Wedge Group Galvanizing, says: “Our vehicles are our shop window in many ways, so it’s vital that they stand out and are consistent with our brand guidelines.”

He adds: “We’re switching to DAF for several reasons, but largely because they produce great trucks which have an excellent aftercare service.”
