The 13.7m tri-axle straight frame curtainsiders are designed so that the fixed deck can be unbolted and removed, giving the Devon-based operator maximum flexibility.
The new additions are the first of this type to join Gregory’s fleet and were ordered after Tiger built pillarless chipliner trainers for the company in 2015.
“The versatility of a removable deck was a really important factor in the design. Following the success of the chipliner, we knew we could rely on Tiger to meet the challenge,” says Dan Saunders, technical support manager at Gregory Distribution.
“We worked really closely with the design team to ensure they understood how we intended to use the load space – the trailers matched the brief perfectly and the entire process was seamless.”
The new removable double decks feature a front aerofoil and rear roof scoop to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.
Each trailer is expected to cover 156,000km a year and remain in service for 10 years.
