Gussion Transport pumps up on Michelin and ATS Euromaster

Tyres & Retreads
Widnes-based chemical haulier Gussion Transport is reporting a 30% cut in its tyre bill since converting to fleet-wide tyre management and an all-Michelin new and Remix fitment policy.

John Chadwick, transport manager for Gussion Transport, says that a fleet audit by Michelin late in 2015 found that 79% of its tyres running under-inflated, exposing the operator to the higher fuel bills.

As a result, he says, Gussion then implemented the ATS Euromaster MasterCare tyre management package before also switching from budget tyres to Michelin X MultiWay 3D regional fitments following tyre performance assessments.

“ATS Euromaster’s regular inspections catch any problems before they become significant, so reducing our downtime,” states Chadwick, explaining that its 90-strong fleet now receives monthly tyre inspections,

“Our drivers have also responded well to having premium tyres on the fleet’s vehicles, and appreciate the peace of mind they get from running on Michelin,” he adds.

Financially, the switch to Michelin also adds up, he says, ijndicating that the haulier has seen a considerable drop in PPK (price per kilometre) for its tyres.

MasterCare is based on scheduled, electronically managed tyre inspections aimed at minimising the risk of tyre failures and prolonging tyre life.
