Haulage business European UK Road Operations has taken delivery of a built-to-order curtainsider trailer from Schmitz Cargobull – 24 hours after completing the order.
The Iver-based haulier needed a new tri-axle curtainsider urgently and, says managing director Paul Bedwell, Schmitz pulled out all the stops.
He called local area sales manager Craig Kedda to ask about lead times: "When Craig said he could build me a trailer within 24 hours I was blown away," says Bedwell.
"He solved my predicament in an instant. What's more, the price was competitive, so I didn't even bother ringing anyone else."
Bedwell placed the order on a Friday and despatched a two-man crew on the Sunday night to collect the trailer from the manufacturer's Altenberge factory in Germany. They collected it and headed straight to Amsterdam to pick up a load.
The new curtainsider has a gtw of between 24 and 38 tonnes and a sliding roof.
It is being used by European UK Road Operations for exhibitions, television and film set work, and is expected to remain in operation for up to ten years.
