Andrews Haulage has acquired 12 8x4 Scania tippers fitted with Thompson Loadmaster bodies, in a change of tactic that sees the haulier moving from a used to new equipment policy.
In recent years, Swanley, Kent-based Andrews has bought used trucks for its 50-strong fleet, but says there are insufficient quality used vehicles available now.
Mounted on 400bhp Scania chassis, the Loadmasters are all the full-spec heavy duty version, with double skins and four corner posts to handle heavy and demanding payloads.
Each Loadmaster body has been specified with Thompsons' cab-operated AutoLift tailgate system, so there's no need for the driver to leave the cab. The trucks also have full sideguards, hazard-warning stickers and a rear-view camera.
"Over the years, we've bought and sold a good many tippers," says director Danny Andrews.
"We know first-hand that a Loadmaster body can give you over a decade of really hard work. This means we also achieve the lowest bodywork maintenance and operating costs, as well as the highest residual value."
