Home delivery specialist Hermes has ordered 300 Fastback 13.6 metre semi-trailers, from Cartwright, as part of a fleet replacement programme.
The company is targeting a fuel economy improvement of between 5 and 8%, as well as enhancing reliability and reducing its environment impact.
Rob Elmore, fleet services manager at Hermes, explains that as its national network of depots and hubs increases, the company recognised the importance of growing its logistical capabilities.
"The trailer investment will not only ensure we possess the capacity to handle parcel volumes now and in the future, but also help reduce operating costs and minimise the impact of our operation on the environment," states Elmore.
The trailers will be used for the collection of customer parcels into the Hermes' hubs, as well as for the trunking operation between these locations and its depot network.
