High-spec waste tanker showcased at CV Show

Tankers CV Show
Waste tankers manufacturer Whale Tankers has unveiled the latest version of its Whale MVC (medium volume combination), built for TIP, at the Commercial Vehicle Show (29 April to 1 May).
The tanker – constructed on a Euro 6 DAF FAFL55-220 18-tonne gvw chassis – incorporates new features, including Whale's ESN (emissions, smell and noise) environmental package. The ESN package combines three features -- a new vacuum system, deodoriser and upgraded silencer – and costs 30% less than if the options are selected individually. The jetting system has new safety features – all fitted as standard – including a self-start function which ensures jetting pressure returns to zero after each use, and a soft-start feature to eliminate any 'kick' in the lance. An anti-vibration boom control is fitted to the gully arm, again, to improve health and safety issues with hand-arm vibration. Optional features include a sideshift reel, enabling the jetting reel to be moved hydraulically from left to right across the back of the tanker, and a digital hose meter to show how much hose remains on the reel. "In conjunction with TIP, we have 'fully loaded' this vehicle to showcase the range of optional features that can further enhance the safety and operational performance of what is already a very well-specified medium volume combination unit," says Chris Anderson, Whale's commercial director. Meanwhile, Whale Tankers also debuted its CityWhale – a new range of lightweight vehicles designed for city jetting and suction operation. The new range will be available in three versions – the Micro (3.2-3.5t), Midi (3.5-4.5t) and Major (7.5t). The new CityWhale range joins the established WhaleCompact van mounted jetting range – currently available on VW Transporter, Mercedes Vito, Ford Transit, Renault Traffic and Toyota Hiace chassis. "The contrast between the CompactWhale and new CityWhale ranges and the MVC and KaiserWhale vehicles on display demonstrates our ability to deliver effective, fully compliant solutions across a very broad range of operational requirements," said Anderson.
