Delegates planning to attend this year’s national IRTE Conference (28 September; Eastwood Hall, Notts) are being advised that the early-bird discount ends this Friday 19 August 2016.

Bookings before the deadline are priced at £380 for IRTE members, including the pre-conference dinner, hotel, and breakfast (£420 after the deadline). For non-members those prices are £435 rising to £480.

The day rate only is currently £220 for IRTE members (but £240 after Friday), and £270 for non-members (£300 after Friday).

Delegates can expect to hear from Ricardo, Shell, DAF, Iveco, Scania, Volvo, LowCVP, TfL, CLOCS, FORS and DVSA during this year’s IRTE Conference.

Other headline appearances will include Arup, Carlsberg, Cemex, Reading Buses, Ryder and Cambridge University.

This year’s IRTE Conference theme is ‘Driving fleet operational efficiency, profitability and compliance’.

Delegates can expect a packed agenda aimed at highlighting best practice and new technologies capable of cutting costs, improving competitiveness and ensuring compliance.

Senior traffic commissioner Beverley Bell will outline key strategic objectives of the traffic commissioners and provide a legislative update on O licence obligations.

The technology keynote will be delivered by LowCVP’s Andy Eastlake, who will review the implications of technologies ranging from multi-fuel engines to hydrogen power, hybrids, range extenders, platoons and autonomous vehicles.

Other speakers include: Ricardo’s Andy Noble on Euro 7; and Carlsberg’s Philip Thompson on the firm’s transformational fleet efficiency project.

There will also be sessions on selecting better trucks – in light of new technologies – as well as cutting operational costs and improving sustainability, with Dr Phil Greening, of Heriot Watt University, and David Cebon, of Cambridge University.

Delegates can select from three seminar streams during the afternoon session, covering legislation, technology and fleet operational advances.

The event is preceded by a conference dinner on 27 September, where winners of the inaugural IRTE Fleet Engineer of the Year awards will be announced by Mrs Bell.
