Iveco revs up to take centre stage at CV Show

Iveco appears to have ‘broken ranks’ with the rest of the major truck manufacturers by announcing that it will be the only one showing heavy trucks at the forthcoming Commercial Vehicle Show (NEC, Birmingham; 26-28 April).

The company says it is preparing more than 20 vehicles to display at this year’s event, including several of its latest award winners.

Four vehicles will be showcased at the entrance: the Stralis Hi-Way tractor unit, 2013’s international truck of the year; the New Eurocargo, international truck of the year 2016; and the Daily, international van of the year 2015.

They will be joined by an Iveco Trakker, used by the Petronas Team De Rooy Iveco to win the 2016 Dakar rally.

Inside the show, Iveco’s exhibits will include the debut appearance of the new Daily Electric – the first time it will be seen in the UK. It will be accompanied by several other Daily models and a 7.5-tonne New Eurocargo.

A second outdoor display will promote Iveco’s Hi-SCR (selective catalytic conversion) technology for Euro 6 heavy-duty diesel engines, with an 18-tonne New Eurocargo, Stralis Hi-Way tractor and Trakker 8x4 rigid.

“Most manufacturers would bite your arm off to win International Van of the Year or International Truck of the Year,” comments Nigel Emms, Iveco’s director of brand and communication.

“To have three such awards in our current product line-up is unprecedented and clear recognition of Iveco’s focus on technology for sustainability and reduced total cost of ownership.”
