Lightning Hybrids strikes on MIRA Technology Park

Hydraulic hybrid technology specialist Lightning Hybrids International has moved into new office and workshop facilities at MIRA’s Technology Park, joining Bosch, Lockheed Martin, Haldex, GKN, Aston Martin and Continental.

The US-based automotive R&D company, which develops regenerative braking for light commercial vehicles, claims that its systems reduce brake wear, save fuel and reduce pollution, including NOx and CO2 emissions, particularly on stop/start applications.

Tim Sherwood, managing director of international business at Lightning Hybrids, says the move to MIRA Technology Park not only provides the firm with a platform for international expansion, but also access to 37 major engineering test facilities at MIRA.

“The Midlands – and indeed MIRA - is a hive of activity for the automotive industry, and home to many top tier automotive suppliers and OEMs,” comments Sherwood. .

“This location brings us closer to our UK customers and from here we hope to further grow our business in the UK and within Europe, as well as take advantage of the extensive facilitates available on our doorstep,” he adds.

Since 2010, MIRA Technology Park has captured the imagination of more than 30 businesses. It has also become one of the UK’s top performing Enterprise Zones.
