MAN chassis and driveline powers new E&M Horsborough buses

Private and contract hire specialist E&M Horsburgh says it is delighted with its two new MAN MCV Evolution combinations.
The 14.220s (43-seat 11.3 metre) are the first complete MAN chassis and driveline units for the Livingston-based bus company, although existing MAN-powered Optare Solos have "performed exceptionally well". Company director Eric Horsburgh says he was delighted with the "attractive acquisition package", and suggests that his opinion of the MAN product has since grown. "Even after an intensive 50,000km, the new MANs have not missed a beat," he says, "and we've had no issues with them. It's still early days, but, I have to say, I like what I see." And he adds: "Perhaps the greatest appeal is the EGR [exhaust gas recirculation] engine. We do not need AdBlue, and that's a real bonus. We have SCR [selective catalytic reduction] powered vehicles in our fleet and I can tell you that they do not offer any advantage in productivity. AdBlue is just another operating cost, and it's a hassle, too."
