MAN dealership goes mobile with vehicle lifts

Commercial vehicle dealership MAN Truck & Bus Gateshead has specified six wireless mobile column lifts, from Stertil Koni, for its new purpose-built workshop.

The new units, type ST1075FWA, replace a set of four 6.5-tonne cabled column lifts, also from Stertil Koni, which had performed reliably for 20 years.

The 7.5-tonne capacity wireless mobile column lifts have a combined capacity of 45 tonnes when used as a set of six. They are enabling MAN’s workshop technicians to service and maintain a wider range of buses and trucks, up to three- and four-axle HGVs.

Each column features Stertil’s ebright Smart Control System, which allows the columns to be operated individually, in pairs or in any other configuration, and provides visual information on lifting operations via a full-colour touchscreen console.

The latest additions provide a maximum lifting height of 1.85m, which is reached in 75 seconds.

“Our previous cabled column lifts from Stertil Koni worked hard for over 20 years with no serious problems,” says Matt Forth, general manager at MAN Truck & Bus Gateshead.

“In a typical day, our workshop technicians deal with no fewer than 30 buses and trucks and the new wireless lifts are invaluable in supporting a whole range of servicing and maintenance operations. Also, on the odd occasions when lifting is not required, the technicians can simply wheel them away to free up space in the workshop.”
