Supplied by dealer Midlands Truck & Van, the Actros has a StreamSpace cab and 320bhp, six-cylinder engine. Its curtainside body is by Fred Smith & Sons, of West Bromwich, and the vehicle is also equipped with a rear-slung Moffet Mounty forklift.
“Our heavy trucks spend a lot of time in Europe and the drivers love the size, practicality and comfort of their flat-floored BigSpace and GigaSpace cabs,” says On Point’s managing director Carl Delaney. “We equip them with fridges and microwave ovens, so they’re a real home from home.”
He adds: “Our trucks are also highly fuel-efficient, thanks in part to their optional Predictive Powertrain Control systems, but it is their outstanding reliability, above all else, which explains why we remain loyal to Mercedes-Benz.
“We make a lot of just-in-time deliveries, particularly for customers from the automotive industry, and the fines we can incur for failing to arrive on time and stopping the production line are eye-watering. Experience has shown that our trucks don’t let us down. This is partly down to the very good back-up we receive from Midlands Truck & Van, which provides warranty support and a very good parts service.”
On Point’s name is derived from a military term, meaning the lead position in a combat formation – the business is run by brothers Carl and Anthony Delaney, with managing director Carl being a former sniper in the Royal Green Jackets.
