One customer in a Mercedes-Benz Vito has recorded an average fuel economy figure of in excess of 50mpg during an H&L Garages MPG challenge.
H&L Garages, which has dealerships in Immingham, Boston, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, York and Hull, invited customers to take a measured test drive in a new 113CDI Long, and record their mpg figure.
The van came fitted with the optional Mercedes-Benz BlueEfficiency package, which meant low rolling-resistance tyres and the ECO-Start system were both included in the specification.
The winner was Shaun Smith, managing director of Bespoke Floor Specialists, of South Cave, who already runs a Vito.
"Even I was surprised at the economy figure I was able to record on this run. More than 50 mpg from a van of this size really is impressive," he says, having returned 52.3mpg.
