Multipart says it is continuing to search for innovative solutions to parts supply problems experienced by owners of the 100,000 LDV vans and minibuses running on Britain's roads.
The parts supply giant has now introduced a re-manufactured alternator for the LDV Maxus van, which, it says, is offered at a price reflecting the age of these vehicles.
The firm also claims that it is produced using the same processes as those on the new original equipment and is available at a lower cost.
Body panels can be a problem, however, and last year Multipart made a range of panel skins available to enable body shops to repair damaged panels, rather than replace the entire unit.
John Cascone, Multipart director, says this has proven very successful, so the scheme has now been modified to ensure that repairs can be carried out at much lower cost, using standard body repair techniques and tooling.
"With around 100,000 LDV vans and minibuses still out there and with years of service still in them, it's becoming more important to find cost-effective answers to the needs of operators for parts," states Cascone.
"As these vehicles get older, we know that owners will not want to spend heavily on them," he continues.
"That's why at Multipart our committed and knowledgeable LDV team is focussed on ensuring that we can meet their needs in innovative ways."
