New CV service centre chooses Freeway for all-round functionality

Transport and logistics operator ATL has opened a new commercial vehicle service centre near Derby, where sister company Haywood Commercials is delivering repair and maintenance services to both the operator and third party clients.

Located off the A50 near Derby, Haywood is maintaining ATL’s fleet of 100 vehicles and 150 trailers, and has deployed software from Freeway Fleet Systems to manage the operation.

After evaluating available software, Haywood decided Freeway’s solution was the only one to offer the comprehensive functionality needed.

Workshop manager George Haywood says: “The system has clear advantages for operators like us that need to optimise efficiency and productivity with a fully integrated all-in-one system.”

Freeway’s software is running in parallel with ATL’s transport management solution until rollout is complete, with both systems interfacing to provide vehicle availability and minimise secondary data entry.

“The fact that it could interact and easily accept data from both internal and external systems was an important additional benefit of Freeway,” added Jamie Norvaisa, the group’s system administrator.

As well as the benefits of cost control and efficiency improvements, Freeway’s ready-made solution for the DVSA’s Earned Recognition scheme was another bonus, adds Haywood.

“It means we will be fully compliant with this DVSA scheme,” he says.

“However, it also means we can offer an Earned Recognition-compliant service to others, which could prove key to attracting commercial customers – they can attain recognition without having to worry about the process and software required.”
