A website, dedicated to assisting bodybuilders and converters to meet the requirements of the new EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA) directive, has been launched by DAF Trucks.
Called DAF BBI Plus, bodybuilders can register through the existing DAF bodybuilder website (www.dafbbi.com), which will continue to be the reference point for bodybuilder guidelines, chassis drawings, specification sheets and CAD files.
A key part of DAF BBI Plus is the ability to download 'production order specific' drawings, unique to the chassis to be bodied, initially available for the CF75, CF85 and XF model ranges.
The 2D drawings will be provided in either PDF or DXF format and can be requested from up to three weeks before the vehicle goes into production.
"As a vehicle manufacturer we are already meeting the requirements of the new WVTA regime both for our incomplete chassis/cab vehicles and the complete, factory-bodied vehicles," explains DAF product marketing manager Phil Moon.
"As a result, we understand ECWVTA very well and, through our new website, we aim to pass on that knowledge and experience to provide help and support to the independent bodybuilding sector."
