New trailer design walks off with payload increase

Trailers
Trailer manufacturer Paneltex Martrans has developed a new walking floor trailer, which can carry up to 40% more payload than typical eight-wheel tippers.
Designed for the construction industry, the new model, says the company, offers a better means of transporting asphalt and loose aggregates. It has a lower overall weight and new planksider bodywork with insulated sidewalls. The latest trailer now weighs 7,950kg and, with up to a 28-tonne capacity, it can be discharged in around four minutes and can be swept clean afterwards, giving a faster turnaround. "Eliminating the need for tipping altogether means the trailer can be used safely in any location, and the payload gain compared with a typical eight-wheel rigid tipper gives a massive efficiency benefit," says Chris Berridge, Paneltex's managing director.
