Inviting businesses and industry professionals to recognise drivers who consistently go above and beyond, the awards highlight excellence across the transport and logistics sectors.
Hosted by Microlise Group at the Coventry Building Society Arena the night before its transport conference, the awards recognise individuals who play an important role in keeping supply chains moving.
Nominations are now being accepted, and companies and colleagues – regardless of whether they use Microlise software – are encouraged to submit their entries to honour drivers who excel in any of the following five categories: Young Driver, Most Improved, Extra Mile, Driver Hero, and Lifetime Achievement. The awards will also recognise drivers across four data-driven categories based on performance data from the Microlise product suite.
An independent panel of judges will determine the winners in each category, including Richard Smith, managing director of the RHA; Victoria Davies, traffic commissioner for Wales; Phil Roe, president of Logistics UK; Justin Burns, editor of Transport Engineer; and Steve Watson, director of product at Microlise.
Speaking on the 2025 awards, Nadeem Raza, Microlise CEO, said: “We are delighted to open the 2025 Driver of the Year Awards for nomination and recognise the incredible contribution that drivers make to our industry.
“The awards provide a platform to celebrate the people behind the wheels that keep our industry moving with their dedication and professionalism.”

Nominations are open until 5pm on 31 January and the winners will be announced at an exclusive VIP dinner event in March.
The winner of the 2024 Overall Driver of the Year award, the Co-op’s Fraser Macalister, commented on his success: “I think it’s important for Microlise to recognise drivers in this way, because it shows that there is an end game to training. It’s a pat on the back to say ‘well done, you’re doing your job well’, because I know from experience that drivers do not always feel that they get individual recognition.
“I take great pride in my work and doing it right. Microlise’s systems help me be a better driver and will be incredibly helpful for other drivers who wish to improve their skills,” he added.
