The ceremony followed the LAPV Future Fleet Forum, hosted by The City of London, which brings together local authority fleet managers and contracting organisations to address challenges faced by the sector.
Neal has worked at O’Donovan Waste for 22 years and is a full-time HGV driver, as well as logistics supervisor. He helps to train existing and new drivers, and is involved in the operator’s community initiatives, including taking HGVs to local schools.
“I am absolutely delighted – professional driving standards have changed so much for the better in recent years and it’s no longer just sitting in a vehicle and getting from A to B. I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all HGV drivers working to make a difference and raise the bar in our profession,” said Neal.
Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste, adds: “Paul is an excellent ambassador for our company as well as for the driving profession. He is hardworking, dedicated and always happy to get involved in our road safety and training initiatives.”
