Stagecoach now has 550 Optare Solos in its fleet nationwide, on town and rural operations, following the latest batch of deliveries.
Among recent deliveries was a pair of 8.8m SlimLine (2.33m wide) models, modified for operation in the Lake District – with increased ground clearance afforded by retooling the rear bumper and fitting larger diameter wheels. These units also have a deeper ratio rear axle to aid hill climbing.
Two more SlimLines have also just gone to Oxford and deliveries of a further 12 standard width (2.5m) variants were recently delivered to Yorkshire and the North West.
Les Warneford, managing director of Stagecoach UK Bus, says: "Continued investment in the quality of our fleet … is central to our strategy of getting more people taking greener, smarter bus travel."
