Commissioned for the firm’s 25th anniversary, artwork on the Globetrotter XL cab is by local artist David Churchard. It includes Birmingham icons such as Peaky Blinders, The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Lord of the Rings and Ozzie Osbourne on the cab’s offside, while cityscape landmarks such as the futuristic Selfridges store and the Rotunda are showcased on the nearside (pictured).
Supplied by dealer Hartshorne Motor Services, with a Volvo Blue service contract, the top spec 6x2 pusher axle FH flagship is powered by Volvo’s D13K Euro VI engine, rated at 493bhp, coupled to a 12-speed, I-Shift automated manual transmission system.
As well as the unique livery, the truck also boasts Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels, air horns, Kelsa light bars and SB Components’ chassis side skirts.
“Birmingham is where it all started for us, so the city is integral in our past, present and future. We wanted to mark that in some lasting way for our 25th anniversary. The new Volvo is a real head turner,” says David Bayliss, commercial director at PGS Global Logistics.
Volvo is now its preferred commercial vehicle brand, he says. “All our tractor units are now Volvo and our driver retention figures have also improved, thanks to the marque.”
