Pioneer Foodservice rolls out Cool Track monitoring across fleet

Cumbrian food service company Pioneer Foodservice has extended its relationship with Seven Telematics to include the Cool Track remote monitoring system for all new vans and trucks.

The operator, which has used the Seven Telematics Transcan 2 temperature recording system since 2010, now has 24 of its 60 vehicles equipped with the Cool Track solution.

These include Ford Transit 3.5-tonne vans with GRP refrigerated van conversions, as well as 7.5-tonne and 12-tonne rigid box vans, all with Solomon multi-temperature refrigerated bodywork.

Jonny Forsyth, Pioneer's operations manager, says the decision was driven by quality control.

"The type of food we carry has stringent temperature constraints, so to have the ability to constantly monitor the temperature every 15 minutes, if needs be, is ideal for us," says Forsyth.

"The depth of information that we get is superb, giving us extensive real-time information on load stability throughout the delivery cycle," he continues.

"In fact it's a real bonus that we get far more information than we originally expected from the Cool Track system, with additional routine reports covering all aspects of vehicle performance, in terms of fuel consumption, driver over revving and engine idling for example," adds Forsyth.
