The Scania joins a fleet that includes eight plant bodies which are used as part of the company’s self-drive plant rental business. “These vehicles are vital for the plant rental side of our business and we need to be confident that they won’t let us down – happily, the Andover bodywork never does,” confirms Chris Bullimore, managing director.
The bespoke body features a double crank beavertail connected to a pair of 2.5m-long hydraulic power toe ramps, plus an electric winch mounted to the headboard to aid loading and unloading.
The build includes six pairs of lashing points along the deck for maximum load security and flexibility, as well as steady legs and working lights for safety.
Operating from Bullimores’ plant rental sites in St Neots and Northampton, the vehicle is expected to clock up 52,000km a year and remain in operation for six years.
