The County Durham-based operator has deployed the Director solution for its 135-strong fleet, replacing a basic tracking system.
The connected fleet management platform enables PTM to monitor driver behaviour – with data on harsh braking, acceleration and cornering – and is underpinning a driver training programme to improve fleet safety.
The deal also includes Teletrac Navman’s Dallas Key Driver ID technology installed in every vehicle, which allowing the PTM to keep track of individual driver profiles when vehicles are not permanently assigned to one employee.
Martin Fryer, PTM’s fleet manager, had used Teletrac’s software in a previous role, so it was a “no-brainer”, he says, when it came to choosing a new tracking and telematics product.
He adds: “This investment will transform the way we manage driver behaviour and the overall safety of our fleet by giving us greater visibility and the provision to devise and implement a formal driver training programme.”
