Supplied by dealer Acorn Truck Sales, the Crayford-based operator’s new additions are powered by 6.7-litre Tector engines producing 250bhp at 2,500 rpm, and up to 850 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 2,050 rpm.
Dynes’ spec includes a 5,670mm wheelbase, rear air-suspension and a seven-person factory-built crew cab with air con. Each chassis is mounted with a Roger Dyson recovery body.
“We’ve tried the competition, but keep coming back to Iveco because of the sheer dependability of its engines,” says Andy Nock, director at Dynes Auto Services.
“We often find ourselves recovering trucks that have EGR [exhaust gas recirculation] problems, which reinforced our preference for Iveco’s HI-SCR technology,” adds Nock.
“Plus, we simply don’t have time to stop when someone needs recovery. Waiting at the side of a busy road in a broken-down family car while the breakdown recovery company has to park up and regenerate is simply not acceptable.”
The vehicles are expected to be in service for five years. Dynes will also be adding four Iveco Daily recovery trucks to its fleet later this year.
