Renault Range K for Macwilliam Demolition

Scottish demolition specialist MacWilliam Demolition has switched from MAN trucks to Renault Trucks Range K, with its first 32-tonne K430 8x4 starting on the road at the close of last year (2014).

The new Range K has been fitted with a Hyva hookloader – with Hyvalift 32.5600 c/w and Hyva autosheet system – and the cab wrapped in MacWilliam Demolition's livery.

"Due to the growth in our business, I decided to invest in an additional vehicle that we own, rather than paying money to a plant hire company," comments MacWilliam Demolition managing director (and Chairman of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors for Scotland and NI) Craig MacWilliam.

"I then got our driver to test drive the Renault and a DAF and we also researched and inspected MAN, Volvo and Mercedes [trucks], and selected the best overall," he continues.

"The Range K stood out straight away... One thing that really appealed was the smooth acceleration and responsiveness at, for example, roundabouts.

"Our driver ... liked the additional space inside, which is uncommon in a day cab. In addition we felt it had a robust chassis and good ground clearance for off-road."

But for MacWilliam, the clincher, he says, was value.

"The new vehicle has been on the road for a few weeks and we already know we made the right decision. We are noticing better acceleration under load and, while we are still calculating fuel consumption, we are seeing an improvement."
