Renault wins first slice of the Warburtons fleet

Tractor Units
Bakery business Warburtons has taken delivery of its first Renault trucks, adding three Range T430 4x2 tractors to its 900-strong fleet.

The new additions join the operator’s 130-strong primary trunking fleet and are assigned to its Enfield bakery.

The tractors are equipped with 11-litre DTi engines producing 424hp, driving through the Optidriver 12-speed automated gearbox.

Inside, the sleeper cabs include air-suspended seats and leather steering wheel.

Steven Gray, Warburtons’ national transport manager, says Renault was included in the latest tender after a successful trial of a Range T demonstrator at its Bolton bakery. “Feedback from our drivers was very positive; they reported being pleasantly surprised with the quality, comfort and performance of the Range T,” he says.

Warburtons also used total cost of ownership evaluation models, in which the Range T was “very competitive”, says Gray.

The Range Ts are expected to cover 175,000km per year, hauling Warburtons’ Gray & Adams insulated trailer fleet.

The vehicles will be supported by dealer Norfolk Truck and Van throughout the five-year contract.
