Commercial vehicle rental business Ryder has renewed its fleet contract with Bridgestone for another five years, in a deal worth an estimated £50 million and covering more than 24,500 trucks and trailers.
The clincher, says Ryder, was Bridgestone's Truck Point support network, delivering a 24-hour tyre management service.
Most (90%) of the tyre management business will be in the UK, with a small proportion extending to Ireland and Germany.
"We are pleased to have agreed this new contract. It will ensure that Ryder, and its customers, receive best-in-class tyre management from Bridgestone and its Truck Point network partners," says Ryder's fleet services director Terry Dillon (pictured, left, with Bridgestone's commercial director Greg Ward).
"We are absolutely thrilled to be in a position to celebrate our extended fleet partnership with Ryder, with whom we have built up a long-standing partnership over the last 15years," comments Greg Ward, Bridgestone's commercial sales director.
"To have signed a five year extension deal is a huge coup for everyone at Bridgestone and we look forward to renewing existing relationships and building new ones in the future."
Ward expects some of the tyre fitments to move from standard 295/80 to 315/70 as more of Ryder's fleet moves over to Euro 6.
