The new depot comprises two 3,400 square foot workshops, which house seven vehicle bays plus office accommodation, parts storage, a meeting room and hot desk space.
SFS has invested £400,000 in workshop equipment at the site, which will include vehicle lifts for heavy and lightweight commercial vehicles, a brake tester and vehicle wash bay.
One workshop is designated for working primarily on HGVs and the other for LCVs. Both will be used to support SFS customers’ fleets in the South West, including Mid Devon District Council, Somerset Council and Exeter City Council. The facility will also support hire vehicles from SFS’ vehicle rental division CTS Hire.
Bob Sweetland, managing director, SFS: “This new depot is part of a wider strategy to expand our network, enhancing our service and maintenance capabilities to support customers’ fleets and our own rental fleet. We are also delighted to be able to create new employment opportunities in the area.”
SFS has an extensive track record in delivering fleet and workshop management solutions to local authorities and currently operates a network of 13 workshops across the UK, nine of which are based at council depots. The company operates its own specialist vehicle hire division, CTS Hire, for the provision of short to medium term municipal vehicles.
