Supplied by dealer Warrington Vehicle Centre, the new additions are 16 Forward 7.5-tonne curtainsided rigids with tail-lifts; two Forward 7.5-tonne rigids with beavertail plant-carrying bodies; and one Forward 7.5-tonne rigid with a dropside body to fencing specification.
Each Isuzu is the Forward N75.190 model specified with the Easyshift automatic gearbox, while all three body types have been supplied by PPS Commercials, of Bury.
“Our normal body choice with Isuzu trucks is the beavertail specification. However, for this order, we were looking for an increased number of curtainsided 7.5-tonners and once again the Isuzu chassis was spot on, as it’s a lightweight rigid chassis where we can maximise the payload to suit our business requirements,” says Mark Woodworth, head of transport and logistics at Speedy Hire.
The new vehicles will work across the operator’s UK network. The last of the order will be in operation by April.
Woodworth says: “It is normal Speedy Hire policy to run these vehicles for a three- to five-year period, however such has been the reliability and toughness of the Isuzus that we have kept some of the very first original Isuzu trucks in our fleet. I am pleased to say that they are still going strong after nine years of very hard work.”
