Spirit Pub drinks to Iveco for CV fleet replacement

Spirit Pub Company’s logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel has ordered 39 Iveco Stralis Hi-Street 26-tonne rigids (AD260S33Y/PS), 14 Stralis Hi-Street 18-tonne rigids (AD190S31/P) and three Stralis Hi-Way 6x2 tractor units (AS440S46TX/P).

The rigids are currently being fitted with refrigerated bodies by Solomon, and equipped with Frigoblock multi-temp refrigeration units – with deliveries split between two Iveco dealers – Sherwood Truck and Van, and Grays Truck and Van.

All vehicles will take the latest Euro 6 Cursor engines, based on Fiat Powertrain's Hi-SCR high-efficiency selective catalytic reduction system for emissions control.

Meanwhile, the direct-drive Frigoblock fridge units, which were chosen for their environmental performance, complement Iveco's fuel-efficient engine technology as they draw power from the vehicle's alternator rather than using red diesel.

"We need vehicles that can perform in all environments and which offer maximum reliability and fuel-efficiency," comments Daniel Stretton, senior supply chain manager at Spirit Pub Company.

He explains that the fleet serves a multi-brand estate spread across the UK, requiring versatile vehicles able to cope with urban multi-drop work, regional deliveries but also longer distance trunking.

"We're confident that the Stralis range is ideal for the job," he continues, adding that Iveco put in time and effort to ensure that his new fleet "will meet the needs of our business and growth perfectly".

The trucks will be in operation for up to 12 hours a day, six days per week, travelling an estimated 100,000km per year.

Spirit Pub Company expects to complete its transition to an all-Iveco fleet by the end of October 2015.
