Stagecoach West boosts workshop flexibility with Stertil Koni

Bus operator Stagecoach West has kitted out two of its depots, in Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye, with wireless mobile column lifts as part of a new proactive maintenance programme.

The lifts, from Stertil Koni, each comprise four columns with a lifting capacity of 7.5 tonnes, with a combined capacity of 30 tonnes.

Each column incorporates the ebright Smart Control System, allowing the columns to be operated individually, in pairs or in any other combination from any column in the set. Positioning of the wireless columns is also flexible, so they can be used in any configuration around a vehicle.

“We handle a wide range of vehicles on the lifts,” says Tom Large, engineering director at Stagecoach West.

“These include single-deck minibuses weighing five tonnes up to double-deckers weighing 13 tonnes. The lifts are in constant use five days a week from six in the morning until midnight, handling approximately 50 vehicles a week.

“We’ve had experience of using Stertil Koni lifts for a number of years so we know them to be robust and reliable.”
