Stertil Koni washbay lifts support East Riding of Yorkshire council depots

Stertil Koni has delivered a fourth Skylift heavy duty vehicle lift for the local council depot in Goole, Yorkshire.

This latest installation follows the successful use of three existing Stertil Koni Skylifts, type SKY 250, to support washbay activities at the council’s depot in Beverley. Providing a lifting capacity of 25 tonnes, the heavy duty SKY 250 effortlessly handles a range of council vehicles including refuse collection vehicles, street cleansing sweepers, highway maintenance tippers and flat bodied trucks, road surfacing machines and salt spreaders.

Washbay staff use the SKY 250 in its lowered position for approximately two to three hours a day to simplify the steam cleaning of vehicle bodies using high pressure wash lances. Also, vehicle technicians use the lift in its raised position to carry out chassis washes on vehicles as the first part of annual testing procedures. A further application supported by the Skylift involves pre-season and end of season washing and wax oiling treatments for salt spreading vehicles. In a typical week, 30 to 40 vehicles pass through the washbay at the Goole depot.

The Skylift is available in three lifting capacity options – 20, 25 and 35 tonnes – and offers a lifting height of 1.75 metres.

“This latest SKY 250 lift increases our assets to a total of four installations supporting vehicle steam cleaning at our Beverley and Goole depots,” says Philip Burgess, fleet services manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. “At both depots, the washbay workload is unremitting so the excellent reliability of the Stertil Koni Skylifts is vital to ensure that the council continues to provide the best possible service to local residents and businesses.”
