Technician and engineering manager apprentice consultation

The new, government Trailblazer-led Bus and Coach Technician and Engineering Manager apprenticeship assessment plans are now available for public consultation.

Their release – by the Bus, Coach and Heavy Vehicle Trailblazers committee – follows BIS (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills) acceptance of the new apprenticeship standards, due to replace the existing employer-led framework.

Lloyd Mason, engineering development manager at Arriva, who chairs the Trailblazer committee, explains that the new documents set out the requirements and process for end point assessments for both new standards.

They are aimed at employers, apprentices, and education and training providers as well as assessment organisations.

“The end point assessment are designed to measure skills, knowledge and behaviours of the apprentices at the end of their Level 3 qualification term,” says Mason – adding that his committee has been working closely with stakeholders.
