Norfolk-based bark and woodchip supplier TMA Bark is one of the first companies in the UK to operate a Euro-6 compliant version of Volvo's new FH truck.
The firm specified the Euro 6 version of Volvo's 13-litre engine (D13K460), rated at 460bhp, for its latest acquisition, on the basis that it delivers similar power and torque curves to the outgoing Euro 5 version.
TMA director Graham Andrews also confirms that fuel economy is on a par with the Euro 5 FH trucks the company has been operating for some time.
The truck was also specified with Volvo's I-See GPS-based intelligent automatic transmission software, which works with the I-Shift automated gearbox and cruise control to share topographical information, so boosting fuel efficiency – by up to 5%, according to Volvo.
This new truck was supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, Norwich, under a fixed price repair and maintenance contract.
TMA's new FH is now working with a Dutch-made Kraker walking floor bulk trailer, with the slogan 'Euro-6, delivering a greener future' displayed across both sides.
