TomTom launches Optidrive 360 for predictive driving advice

Telematics
TomTom Telematics has launched Optidrive 360, part of its Webfleet platform, which for the first time includes real-time proactive advice to drivers.

Optidrive 360 uses vehicle and map data to prompt drivers to take their foot off the accelerator – when approaching junctions and roundabouts, for example – or to shift gear, or what their optimum speed should be.

Feedback on driving style was already available via the driver terminals, but the new real-time predictive functionality will, says TomTom, offer continuous driving improvement.

"OptiDrive 360 marks a ground-breaking development that allows businesses to work more closely with their drivers in a bid to create lasting change to driving standards," says Thomas Schmidt, managing director of TomTom Telematics.

Before setting off, OptiDrive 360 provides best practice advice on safe and fuel-efficient driving. During the journey, it gives direct feedback and proactive advice. After the trip, a snapshot analysis is available to review the journey statistics, with all information displayed on the driver terminal.

OptiDrive 360 scores drivers on eight performance indicators – speeding, driving events, idling, fuel consumption, green speed, coasting (release gas while in gear), gear shifting and constant speed – all of which can be used by fleet managers for performance reviews, training and driver benchmarking.
