All of Transdek’s 55 staff attended the ceremony, alongside some of its key customers, including Boots, Eddie Stobart and John Lewis.
Two lord lieutenants, from South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, were also present as HM The Queen’s official representatives and presented a crystal bowl to Transdek CEO and founder Mark Adams.
Adams said: “We are all exceptionally proud of our third Queen’s Award win. It’s been a huge team effort to develop our pioneering Wedge trailer.”
The trailer, he said, is enabling customers to carry up to 25% more load volume: “If all UK trucks and single deck lorries converted to the Wedge, this could save over 2.5 billion miles per year – the equivalent of removing more than one in every seven HGVs from the UK’s roads,” Adams added.
The trailer’s patented design includes increased aperture on both decks to accommodate full height loads.
Transdek customer Nisa has reported saving 820,000km and over £400,000 of transport costs a year with its first fleet of Wedge trailers.
