Transport sector’s early adopters will be tomorrow’s winners – new report

All transport operators, from SMEs to third party logistics businesses, must be more proactive in planning for the future, instead of focusing on survival. That's the warning from asset finance provider Lombard, which has published a new report entitled 'The Future of Logistics'.
Derek Pridmore, Lombard's head of commercial transportation, says: "Having looked at various key issues affecting the commercial transportation industry, we've considered what the key trends are emerging within this sector and uncovered potential opportunities that this may present for UK businesses." These, he says, include the role of IT in determining customer satisfaction, cost control, environment pressures and the re-engineering of supply chains, and changing customer expectations. The report, adds Pridmore, "offers businesses some really thought-provoking ideas on how anticipated changes within the sector may impact the way they operate in the future, and the new opportunities that may be presented".
