VBG Group to acquire BPW drawbar assembly business

VBG Truck Equipment, part of the VBG Group, has announced it has agreed to buy BPW’s drawbar assemblies business for EUR 2.4 million.

The deal is expected to complete by the end of this year and, says VBG, will strengthen its European offering.

VBG – already a distributor for BPW drawbars – is buying the business as a going concern and the contract includes product rights and both tangible and intangible assets, such as patents and ECE approvals for variants of drawbars and rigid drawbars for center-axle trailers and trailers, as well as folding underrun protections and hitch blocks.

“In 2015, we adjusted our business model for the central and western European markets to correspond to the model we were already successfully using in the Nordic region. The business model is based on us offering complete coupling systems rather than individual products,” explains Anders Erkén, division manager of VBG Truck Equipment.

He adds: “We had a gap in our product offer for central and western Europe, but we have now secured the final important piece of the puzzle to make our system offering complete.”

VBG Truck Equipment is VBG Group’s second largest division in terms of sales, with the western European market representing 40% of the division’s total sales.
