Volvo Trucks has announced that its FH and FH16 sleeper cabs are now available in extra-low roof versions, making them suitable, says the manufacturer, for mining applications where height is restricted.
In fact, the roof has been lowered by 190 mm and is flat, as aerials and other equipment have been relocated – meaning a potential total height of 3.2m.
For extra safety and protection, the vehicles are available with an optional aluminium roof shield which adds 15mm to the cab height.
"Certain customers need both low cab height and high load capacity," explains Roger Brorsson, product manager for Volvo FH.
"The Volvo FH and FH16 with low cab roof offer them the possibility of a vehicle with up to 750bhp and a gross combination weight of 120 tonnes."
The FH and FH16 low roof height versions come with the same driveline as other Volvo cabs.
