Volvo FE delivers manoeuvrability for Lili Waste

Municipal Vehicles
Relative newcomer Lili Waste Services is now running a Volvo FE 6x2 26-tonne gvw rigid truck, equipped with steered tag axle and mounted with a 23m3 capacity Incomol pusher 4000 body.

Founder and Chairman Matt Miles says he needed a safe, reliable, fuel efficient and highly manoeuvrable vehicles for collecting trade and commercial waste in Sheffield, -- so turned to Volvo dealer Crossroads Truck & Bus, Birstall and the FE.

“I have dealt with Crossroads Truck & Bus in the past and they have always delivered what I’ve needed and then backed that up with excellent service,” he explains.

Miles has now ordered a second truck to the same specification, which is due for delivery in January 2016 and says he is already looking further ahead and to the Volvo Tridem configuration truck.

Powered by the 280bhp Volvo D8K engine, delivering up to 1,050Nm of torque, and driving through an Allison six-speed automatic transmission, Miles’ Volvo FE was specified with a day cab and air suspension on the rear.

“Over a double shift, the truck collects trade and commercial waste from 250 wheeled containers from 240-litre capacity up to skips with a 12.2m3 capacity,” enthuses Miles.

“This equates to approximately 20 tonnes per day, not one ounce of which goes to landfill,” he says.

Miles went for the Volvo Gold five-year R&M contract.

“I am very happy with the truck that’s been delivered and the service from Crossroads Truck & Bus Birstall has been seamless,” he says.
