The company specialises in the collection and recycling of hazardous workshop waste, as well as the provision of drainage and interceptor maintenance services from nine depots and transfer stations across the UK.
The company also collects over 70 million litres of waste oil a year that is used to refine processed fuel oil (PFO), an environmentally-compliant alternative to virgin fuel, which is either exported or used within the quarrying and power industries.
The FM rigids are fitted with Volvo’s Globetrotter LXL Cab, D11K engines producing 404bhp and 12 speed I-Shift automated transmission systems. The FMs’ 4,100 mm wheelbase chassis includes a nine-tonne front axle in front of a 27-tonne rear bogie design, which is unique to the tridem layout. The double drive axles have a ratio of 2.83:1.
Slicker Recycling Ltd opted for Rolba Super Combi vacuum tanker bodies, which include high pressure jetting pumps, vacuum pumps and suction hose reels, all connected to stainless steel, 4,000 gallon tank cylinders. Remote-control handsets add to safety in operation.
“We will use the new FM Tridems for collecting waste sludges and sediment from oil and water separators,” reports Mark Olpin, Managing Director at Slicker Recycling, adding: “The capacity and weight capability of Volvo’s chassis makes it ideal for interceptor cleaning.”
The new vehicles were supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.
