Volvo Truck and Bus London apprentice scoops top prize

Volvo Truck and Bus London's Alfie Collins has been named top apprentice for 2013 by Volvo Group UK.
Collins received the Jim Keyden Award – named after one of the group's founders – and a cheque for £500 from Volvo Group UK's new managing director Arne Knaben at the annual training awards ceremony, held in Warwick. Criteria for the Jim Keyden Award include dedication to both practical and academic studies, with consistently high academic achievement (merit and distinction grades). The winner must also display strong self-motivation and the ability to work well as part of a team. Other winners this year include Matthew Hebb from Crossroads Group (highest academic achiever) and Garyn Rees of Truck and Bus Wales & West (most improved student). Six technicians from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland also picked up their graduation certificates. This year's awards also featured the first graduates from Volvo Trucks' inaugural electrics and diagnostics course: six technicians from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia were presented with their graduation certificates at the event.
