Wabco has signed a deal with Daimler to supply the vehicle maker with automated manual transmission (AMT) technology.
The contract, described as a global long-term agreement, will see Wabco introducing its next-generation AMT control technology into Daimler’s global truck and bus production.
With a more lightweight, robust and compact design, Wabco says its new gearbox control unit reduces noise levels, optimises gearshifting performance and increases driver comfort. In addition, the new system is designed to support an extensive range of truck types, gearboxes and market-specific functionalities.
Nick Rens, Wabco’s president for the EMEA region, describes the deal as a “significant contract”, adding that it reflects Daimler’s “continued confidence in Wabco’s relentless innovation and technology leadership”.
