Waste management firm reaps rewards with telematics

Telematics Tracking
Recycling and waste management firm Bourne Skip Hire says AGM Telematics’ RouteMaster system has become “an integral part” of its business, delivering a host of unforeseen benefits.

The Peterborough-based operator first installed AGM trackers 10 years ago, following a vehicle theft.

"It was a logical response to the problem and, at the time, we expected it just to come in handy in case of another theft. However, as time has gone by, we have benefited from the system in many other ways," says Chris Seggie (pictured), director of Bourne Skip Hire (BSH).

RouteMaster enables BSH to track the fleet in real time, monitoring each job. ETAs are automatically updated; driving behaviour, such as acceleration, braking and cornering, can be monitored; and drivers' sheets can be downloaded to check against vehicle activity.

The system is used to cover all operations from BSH's two depots, within a 15 mile radius of each other. These include skip drops and collections, waste disposal, and a 'junk squad' house and commercial clearance service.

"We started with RouteMaster many years ago and frankly have never looked back," adds Seggie.

"What started as a simple method to solve a potential vehicle theft, ended up as an integral part of our everyday business. It has certainly paid for itself and without doubt, the technical back up service from AGM is faultless."

The system is cloud based and accessible from any location, using PC, iPhone, iPad or android devices.
