A group of lucky MAN customers enjoyed a visit to Wembley earlier this week, where they joined England World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst (pictured) for a celebratory lunch.

The event was part of MAN’s 66 Legends Edition campaign, which sees the truck manufacturer using the 66-plate opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of England’s World Cup win.

“This year is the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup against Germany in 1966 and it seemed like an unusual and innovative way of celebrating that,” says Simon Elliott, managing director of MAN Truck & Bus UK.

“There has been a tremendous response to our 66 Legends Edition, so great in fact that we sold some to customers in Wales and Scotland. It is a fantastic sight to see them all lined up and ready for the big drive-away.”

He adds: “It was also a great honour to work with Sir Geoff on this project. He came to our Swindon office to launch the vehicles and at Wembley has personally handed over the trucks to every customer who bought one.”

The vehicles feature a special door badge, personalised 66 plate and 66 logo dashboard mat. Every truck is also accompanied by a framed replica England football shirt signed by Sir Geoff.
