Whitelink Seafoods nets reliability benefits with Vector 1550

Whitelink Seafoods has updated its fleet with a new Gray & Adams reefer trailer, equipped with a Vector 1550 temperature-controlled system from Carrier Transicold.

The trailer is paired with a Scania R520 tractor and joins Whitelink’s four-strong, all-Carrier Transicold-equipped refrigerated trailer fleet.

It will be used to deliver fresh and frozen seafood throughout the UK and Europe, returning with fruit and vegetables.

“We’ve been specifying Carrier Transicold refrigeration units for 22 years... Reliability is good and the aftercare service we receive is second to none,” says Ronald Noble, fleet manager for Whitelink.

“The Vector 1550 system offers the perfect blend of performance for our needs, but also helps us to cut operating costs and emissions levels – both of which are very important to our business.”

The patented combination of a hermetic compressor with an economiser delivers the Vector 1550’s cooling capacity of 14,995W, with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The economiser supplies up to a 40% increase in refrigeration capacity during pull-down, before automatically reducing during the temperature regulation phase to save fuel.

Carrier’s E-Drive technology enables temperature control of +/- 0.8 degs C. The E-Drive technology also removes a number of serviceable parts from the unit, which reduces maintenance requirements, increases uptime, and can reduce refrigerant leak rates by as much as 55% compared with conventional systems using standard technology, thereby cutting CO2 emissions.

Whitelink’s latest Vector 1550 unit is expected to be in operation for 10 years, clocking up 160,000km a year per vehicle.
