Supplied and maintained by Norscot DAF in Aberdeen, the pair of XG+ tractors come with DAF’s ‘FTG’ 6x2 mid-lift axle configuration and are proving to be more efficient than their previous generation XF counterparts.
William Nicol general manager Gary Thomson said: “As we’re primarily in liquid transportation, we have a lot of PTO (Power Take Off) time which skews our economy figures. Nevertheless, we’ve noticed the increase in efficiency afforded by our new trucks. In fact, we’re seeing a 0.5mpg improvement. It’s just one of the reasons that we really like the new XG+.”
Prior to ordering the XG+ duo, Thomson was able to try out the New Generation range as part of DAF’s dealer demonstration programme.
“We have a long history with DAF,” Thomson added, “and the new generation models felt like the perfect fit. I’ve been very impressed with the performance, the space and the high standard of finish. We felt confident that the XG+ was going to be a great working environment for our drivers.
William Nicol has previously received DAF’s breakdown service DAFaid, and its dealer Norscot DAF was a factor when choosing DAF again.
