Wrights Group warns of more job cuts

Bus & Coach
Bus builder Wrights Group has announced that a further 95 jobs could go at its Ballymena, Northern Ireland facility.

The announcement came this week (5 June) and follows a similar number of job losses earlier this year, with the company blaming “continuing low levels of demand in the UK bus market”.

Chairman Mark Nodder OBE said bus operators are delaying or postponing vehicle investments and it is “necessary to align workforce requirements with our near term order book”.

He added: “As ever, given the sensitivities around this announcement, the company will not be making any further statement until the consultation process is concluded.”

Wrights Group employs 1,560 people.
